Changed traffic conditions on Sydney Harbour Bridge, Warringah Freeway, Sydney Gateway and the WestConnex.

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Harbour Tunnel for maintenance and project works.

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Up to 5 lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck will close for maintenance and upgrade works from tonight:

  • Friday 19 April: 11pm – 6am
  • Saturday 20 April: 11pm - 6am
  • Sunday 21 April: 10pm – 4:30am
  • Monday 22 April: 10pm – 4:30am
  • Tuesday 23 April: 10pm – 4:30am
  • Wednesday 24 April: 10pm – 1:30am

Motorists can use other lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or drive through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel as an alternative route during these times.

Change in nighttime traffic conditions on Warringah Freeway

Traffic changes will be in place this weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights on the northern section of the Warringah Freeway due to work at the new Miller Street southbound ramp.

The Miller Street on ramp and one of the two outer southbound freeway lanes between Miller and Ernest streets will be closed from:

  • Friday 19 April: 10pm – 4.30am; and
  • Saturday 20 April: 8pm – 8am; and
  • Sunday 21 April: 8pm – 4.30am

During the closures, motorists can use Ernest Street and Falcon Street southbound on ramps to access the freeway.

Changes to traffic conditions on Sydney Gateway

Vehicles travelling westbound on Airport Drive towards the Sydney Airport International Terminals will be moved onto Sydney Gateway’s second Twin Arch Bridge from Sunday 21 April.

This traffic change will mean that each bridge will support two lanes of traffic in each direction. There will be no changes to the existing eastbound movement on Airport Drive.

Please travel with care, follow directional signs, maintain the speed limit and plan your trip before travelling.

To learn more about this traffic change, visit the Sydney Gateway project website here.

WestConnex speed limit increase

The speed limit for WestConnex will increase from 80km/h to 90km/h this weekend after final testing and commissioning, with clearances given for the safe introduction of the change on the motorway network.

The adjustment will be implemented on Saturday, 20 April, and apply to the WestConnex tunnels between Homebush and Beverly Hills. The speed limits for Rozelle Interchange will remain unchanged.

Essential trackwork

Passengers are advised to plan for the upcoming weekend, 20-21 April, as scheduled trackwork and recovery efforts continue following the severe weather earlier this month.

Buses will replace trains due to planned trackwork on key sections of T2 Leppington, T6 Airport and South, T3 Bankstown, and T5 Cumberland lines.

From Friday, 19 April, 9.40 pm the T2 Inner West Line trains will not run. T1 Western and T9 Northern Line trains will make extra stops at some stations between Homebush and Central.

Buses will replace trains on key sections of the South Coast and Southern Highlands Line for essential maintenance and upgrades.

On the L1 Dulwich Hill line, buses will replace light rail services between Lilyfield and Dulwich Hill on Saturday, 20 April, until 4.30pm while work is carried out to replace a high voltage pole damaged during extreme weather earlier this month.

Detailed information on affected lines and alternative travel options are available in our trackwork alert here.

More information on replacement and alternative services can be found here.

Passengers should allow for plenty of extra travel time and check specific journey information by visiting transportnsw.info or using trip planning apps.
