Have your say on moving in and around Narooma

The community are invited to provide feedback on how they move in and around Narooma to inform Transport for NSW’s feasibility study, which is funded by the Australian and NSW Governments.

Transport for NSW Regional Director South, Cassandra Ffrench, said the Narooma study will help to identify ways to improve access and efficiency for heavy vehicles, while improving safety and congestion on the Princes Highway for all users.

“Community feedback will inform planning for the future of the Narooma Bridge, the Princes Highway and other transport improvements in the town centre,” Ms Ffrench said.

“We want to hear the community’s thoughts on opportunities to reduce congestion during peak periods, vehicle and pedestrian safety, active and public transport options, as well as community access to shops and services in the Narooma area.

“The study includes long-term future planning for the Narooma Bridge. The existing bridge and approaches don’t allow for large and heavy vehicle access and restrict journey continuation for these operators along the Princes Highway. The study and planning investigations will identify opportunities to improve access for heavy vehicles and improve efficiency and safety outcomes for all road users.

“Feedback will be used to help progress the study and provide a clearer snapshot of local road and transport challenges and improvement priorities. We encourage locals and visitors to share their experiences to help shape the future of this corridor.”

The initial community feedback period runs from April 29 to May 31, with feedback gained to also be used by Transport to explore options for improvements in the shorter term before the study is expected to be completed in 2026.

Transport for NSW representatives will be available to listen to the community on their ideas and concerns at the Narooma Oyster Festival between 10am and 5:30pm on Saturday 4 May.

A community drop-in session will also be held at Narooma Plaza between 10am and 1pm on Thursday 9 May.
